"All truth goes through three stages. First it is ridiculed, Then it is violently opposed, Finally, it is accepted as self-evident."  Schopenhauer

Abstracts of peer-reviewed and published nutrition studies supporting the use of micronutrients and antioxidants in the prevention and treatment of degenerative eye disease are available to ONS members.  However, abstracts can be misleading because they are normally written to support the study investigators hypothesis.  We strongly suggest that optometrists take the time to read full nutrition studies that relate to vision health.

We will provide links to full studies if they are not copyright protected.  Most studies published in peer-reviewed journals can be purchased from the publishing journal web site for 24 hour individual use.  The fee is normally between $20-40 U.S. dollars.

The ONS Whitepapers are technically oriented papers designed to inform you of the latest science and rationale regarding nutritional support for eye and vision health. These will be referenced articles that you can add to your library of nutrition education materials.

ONS Forms provide members with materials that can be used in the office to help determine patients' nutritional histories and make decisions on management.

If you have any comments or questions regarding any of these abstracts or whitepapers, please feel free to post them on the forum. The Society is built around the concept of sharing scientific information for the good of all. We welcome your comments.
